Charitable Donations & Goods-in-Kind Support

Australian Opal Cutters - Charitable Giving

Goods-in-Kind Donations for Registered Charities

We support eligible Australian charities by contributing selected Australian Opal Cutters jewellery and other goods-in-kind that can help create fundraising moments, donor engagement and event value.

Our giving strategy

Australian Opal Cutters has spent decades supporting charities, ministries and community organisations through fundraising events, auctions and goods-in-kind donations. We have seen first-hand that a donated item can be much more than a prize: used well, it can become the centrepiece of a live auction, an online campaign, a donor incentive, a lucky-door prize, a raffle (where lawful), or a tangible way to help supporters connect with a cause.

Our aim is to direct our charitable contributions toward organisations that are properly established, able to account for the use of donated goods, and have a clear plan for turning the contribution into measurable fundraising impact.

Eligibility: Our goods-in-kind program is intended for registered charities with current DGR status. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee a donation; availability, timing, fit, prior support, event scale and the strength of the fundraising plan are all considered.

What we look for

  • A current registered charity and DGR status.
  • A clearly identified event, appeal or fundraising purpose.
  • A realistic fundraising target and a plan for how the donated item will be used.
  • Enough lead time for assessment, collection or delivery.
  • Clear ownership of the fundraiser by staff, board members or volunteers.
  • A willingness to report the fundraising outcome back to Australian Opal Cutters.

How a donated item might be used

Depending on the organisation and event, an item might be used as a live or silent auction lot, an online auction feature, a lawful raffle prize, a lucky-door prize, a social-media fundraising campaign, a corporate-table incentive, or a thank-you gift connected with an appropriately structured donation campaign. Charities are responsible for checking all legal, gaming, tax and receipting requirements that apply to their own activity.

ASK - A practical guide to fundraising

We created ASK for small and medium charities, start-up ministries and volunteer-led organisations that care deeply about a cause but may never have been taught how professional fundraising works.

The guide covers leadership alignment, building a fundable vision, donor conversations, recurring giving, major donors, storytelling, donor etiquette, sponsorship, goods-in-kind, gala economics, boards, auctions, stewardship, ethics and practical campaign systems.

The central idea: fundraising is not extracting money from people. It is connecting a genuine need and a credible vision with people who care, then giving them an honourable and practical way to participate.
